Summer School on „Sustainability Entrepreneurship & Sports“ – Two prominent topics that play a major role in society are combined in an exciting week full of holiday feelings and the exploration of new ideas. This year we will focus on the sustainability aspects of the entrepreneurial world of sports.
The Summer School is a joint project between Domhan Vision, a company specialized on international projects, and the Entrepreneurship Service TrENDi at the University of Vechta. In a relaxed atmosphere right by the beach "LI JUNCHI" in Badesi (Sardinia) we want to bring all participants closer to two topics that are of great importance to gain future competencies in an intercultural environment. The link between sustainability entrepreneurship and sports will be explored through a total of six guided input sessions.
In addition to this, a challenge with areal cooperation partner will ensure a practical and lasting experience. The work will be carried out in groups of up to ten people. Of course, we have scheduled enough time slots to enjoy the beauty of Sardinia or to relocate the group work to a location of your choice.
The six input sessions will be held in English and will cover an entire creative process. Starting with the development of ideas, this process will cumulate in the visualization of concrete recommendations for action in a pitch training. The workshops will be complemented by team labs in order to facilitate group dynamics.
At the end, the developed ideas will be presented to the cooperation partner in form of a pitch.
Enjoy 6 days of sunshine with nice people and exciting learning contents at the end of the lecture-free period and recharge your batteries for the winter months at University.
Saturday, the 12th of September and Saturday, the 19th of September are scheduled as travel days. You are free to decide whether you want to arrive earlier or leave later.
Badesi, famous for its long white sandy beaches overlooking the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Asinara, is a small but bustling place in northern Sardinia.
The area around Badesi was declared an independent municipality in 1969 and extends to the banks of the Coghinas River, a natural border between Gallura and the Anglona region.
The beauty of the beaches and the dunes in the shade of beautiful juniper trees fascinate tourists and visitors alike.
Overall, Badesi has an exceptional touristic appeal, which over the years has led to the development of services and resorts for families, beach hotels, kiosks, clubs and many other activities, so that spending the summer in this particular corner of northern Sardinia becomes a unique experience.

In some cases, well-structured processes may reach their limits or may not be as fast and efficient as the "just do it" approach. For this reason, the respective groups should give free rein to their thoughts without any structural or formal specifications. The workshop guides will take over the task of taking minutes and at the end of the Summer School it will be analyzed together how the different approaches have worked in comparison or how the results are to be assessed.
In this workshop, we want to follow the first two steps of the Design Thinking process. The goal in this session should be to understand the entire action cosmos of the cooperation partner, e.g. overall situation, work processes in the organization, target groups, etc., and finally to clearly define the problem for which solutions or ideas are then to be developed.
Based on the previously clearly defined problems, ideas for solutions are to be developed in this workshop. A focus will be set at the aspect of the technical side in sports entrepreneurship. Experts and the workshop guides will support the entire process so that all participants can get a clear picture of the methodology while focusing on the creative process.
As a result of the great creative work in Workshop 3, a long list of possible solutions (suggestions for improvement, new ideas, etc.) has emerged. In the first part of this workshop, the aim is to develop a group-internal idea evaluation system and then, on this basis, to select three ideas that will be fleshed out in the further course of the Summer School. We then want to start this process already at the end of this workshop session.
Session 5
This workshop will focus on translating the selected ideas into clear recommendations for action for the cooperation partner. For this purpose, the groups will develop a structure, which will then be filled with content in the further course of the workshops.
At this point, all groups have developed innovative ideas and translated them into clear recommendations for action that match the partner's resources. These results are to be presented to the cooperation partner at the end of the Summer School. Therefore, in this session, the workshop guides will present thought-provoking ideas on visualization to the participants and provide a pitch training. This then lays the foundation for great final Summer School presentations.
The Summer School was developed by the team of the Chair ‘Economics of Sustainability’ under Professor Jantje Halberstadt at the University of Vechta.
Professor Halberstadt's team will also be in charge of implementation, with students being the main target group.
At the University of Vechta, the Summer School is offered as a seminar , so that students have the opportunity to take an exam and earn credits.
However, the Summer School team has decided to open the event to all interested parties and thus to give as many people as possible access to the exciting topics of "Entrepreneurship & Sports" and of course to the intercultural exchange under the warm sun of Sardinia.
This means that we can accommodate, for example, students from other universities, people who want to spend their vacation a little differently, or people who have just finished school and are now looking for thematic inspiration for their future career path. All are welcome and a reservation request can be made here.
